During this past year of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has really made everyone aware of how our lifestyle has changed in the way we do things. Travelling overseas for Christmas is not an option at the moment and due to the social distancing restrictions, a lot of families may be spending Christmas at home this year.
Below is a list of five fun things that can be done during the Christmas period and on Christmas Day to make it a jolly and happy event.
For those families who are celebrating Christmas at home alone, why not organise a virtual event with extended family members or friends interstate. Preparing your own special Christmas food and then sharing your meal “virtually” is a fun way to feel included in someone-else’s event. Dress up or simply wear Christmas PJ’s for the occasion.
This year visiting Santa is a whole new experience with social distancing. Why not book a virtual visit with Santa at the North Pole (https://santasclub.com) and let your child enjoy the magic of Christmas.
This Christmas why not purchase a real tree. Check out The Farm (https://christmastrees.net.au/the-farm/) in Gundaroo, NSW (Canberra Region) and let your children select their very own tree to decorate. (Photo courtesy of The Farm)
Spend some time creating decorations with your children for your real tree. See Onelitttleproject (https://onelittleproject.com/popsicle-stick-christmas-trees/) for a simple paddle pop stick ornament idea for your Christmas tree. (Photo courtesy of onelittleproject)
Take a drive around your neighbourhood and look at all the wonderful Christmas lights with your children. See https://www.christmaslightsearch.com.au/canberra/ for a guide to the best Christmas lights in Canberra.
Whatever you do this Christmas make sure it is a memorable one for your family!
